Pay close attention to the front and rear ends of the rail, as these areas are prone to paint buildup. Smoothing these areas is critical for a seamless installation. Also, ensure the aluminum lining inside the door and rear window is installed first, as the drip rail trim fits over it. The moulding should be “folded” over this lining for a secure fit.
Addressing the sheet metal lips under the vertical rail is also essential. These lips should be tightly together. Remove any existing seam sealer that might be keeping them apart. A hammer can be used to gently align the bottom lip with the top one. This step should be completed before installing the trim.
Begin installation at the front, starting about three-quarters of the way up. Gently push down until the trim’s curvature matches the roof’s. Twist the trim to install the top portion onto the rail first, then push down and inwards to secure it.
Slowly work your way towards the rear of the vehicle. The rear end is often the most challenging due to changes in the trim and body rail shapes.
